Terms of service
Last updated: 20 October 2026
These Terms of Service explain the rules that apply when you visit or use Outpacker, use our Kit Builder, follow our recommendations or affiliate links, create an account, or buy products directly from us.
Important: Outpacker operates both as a travel gear advisory website and, for certain products, as an online retailer. Some links take you to an independent retailer's website. When you complete a purchase with that retailer, your contract is with the retailer and its terms and policies apply. A purchase completed through the Outpacker checkout is a direct purchase from Outpacker and is governed by these Terms and our other store policies.

1. About Outpacker
Outpacker is operated by Benjamin Morbey, trading as Outpacker, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. In these Terms, “Outpacker”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Benjamin Morbey trading as Outpacker.
Our website is hosted by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce platform that enables us to operate the website and, where applicable, sell products directly to you.
You can contact us at team@outpacker.co.uk. Our geographic trading address is provided on our Contact Information page.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
You must be able to enter into a legally binding agreement to place a direct order. If you are under 18, you may use the website only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Return and Refund Policy, Shipping Policy and any product-specific terms shown before purchase. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.
3. Travel information and recommendations
Our destination guides, articles, packing suggestions, product comparisons and other website content are provided for general information. They are not a substitute for official travel advice, professional safety advice, medical advice or advice tailored to your personal circumstances.
Travel conditions, entry requirements, weather, local laws, product specifications, prices and availability can change. Before travelling or buying a product, check current information from official authorities and the relevant retailer or manufacturer.
You remain responsible for deciding whether a destination, activity or product is appropriate for you and for using products in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Kit Builder and artificial intelligence
The Kit Builder uses automated and artificial intelligence tools to generate suggested packing lists and product recommendations from the information you provide.
Kit Builder results are general suggestions and may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your particular trip, health, abilities, activities, destination or conditions. Always review the results, check official travel and weather information, and confirm product details with the relevant retailer or manufacturer before relying on a recommendation.
Do not enter confidential, financial, medical or other sensitive personal information into the Kit Builder. Information about how Kit Builder data is processed is provided in our Privacy Policy.
5. Affiliate links and external retailers
Some product links are affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, Outpacker may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.
An affiliate link takes you to an independent retailer's website. If you complete the purchase there:
- the retailer, not Outpacker, is the seller;
- your purchase contract is with that retailer;
- the retailer controls the product description, price, availability, payment, delivery, warranty, cancellation, return and refund process; and
- the retailer's terms, privacy notice and other policies apply.
Outpacker cannot accept payment, cancel an order, arrange an exchange or issue a refund for a purchase completed with an external retailer. Questions or complaints about that purchase must be directed to the retailer shown on your order confirmation or receipt.
We aim to identify affiliate content clearly. The presence of an affiliate relationship does not change the price you pay, but it may influence which products or links are commercially available to us.
6. Direct orders from Outpacker
This section applies only when you complete payment through the Outpacker checkout and your order confirmation identifies Outpacker as the seller.
When you submit an order, you offer to buy the items in your basket. An automated order acknowledgement confirms that we received your order but does not necessarily mean that we have accepted it. A contract is formed when we send you confirmation that the order has been accepted or dispatched, whichever occurs first.
We may decline or cancel an order before acceptance where, for example, an item is unavailable, payment is not authorised, there is an obvious pricing or description error, delivery restrictions apply, or we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse. If we cancel an order after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid.
Direct purchases are for personal or household use unless we agree otherwise in writing. Please review your order carefully before submitting it.
7. Product information and availability
We take reasonable care to keep direct-sale product descriptions, photographs, specifications and availability accurate. Colours and appearance may vary depending on your screen, and minor differences that do not affect a product's essential characteristics may occur.
All products are subject to availability. We may limit quantities or stop offering a product, but changes will not affect a direct order that we have already accepted unless we contact you and provide an appropriate remedy.
For affiliate products, the external retailer's current listing and checkout information take precedence over information displayed on Outpacker.
8. Prices and payment
For direct purchases, the total price payable, including applicable taxes and any delivery charges collected by us, will be displayed before you submit the order. Prices and promotions may change, but a change will not affect an order we have already accepted.
If a price is clearly incorrect and the error could reasonably have been recognised, we may reject or cancel the affected order and refund any payment made.
You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method supplied and that the billing and contact information you provide is accurate. Payments are processed through Shopify and the payment providers made available at checkout. We do not directly store your full payment-card details.
For affiliate purchases, prices, taxes, delivery charges, currencies, customs charges and payment options are determined by the external retailer.
9. Delivery
Our Shipping Policy explains the delivery areas, methods, charges and estimated delivery times for direct purchases.
We will deliver within the timeframe agreed with you or, where no timeframe has been agreed, within the period required by applicable law. If an event outside our reasonable control delays delivery, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and take reasonable steps to minimise the delay.
For a consumer purchase, responsibility for the goods normally passes to you when the goods are delivered to you or to a person you nominated to receive them, unless you independently arranged a carrier that we did not offer.
Delivery of affiliate purchases is the responsibility of the external retailer.
10. Cancellations, returns and refunds
Cancellation, return, exchange and refund rights for direct purchases are explained in our Return and Refund Policy. That policy includes information about the statutory cancellation period for eligible online purchases and a model cancellation form.
Nothing in these Terms or our policies limits your rights where direct-sale goods are faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise fail to comply with applicable consumer law.
Affiliate purchases must be cancelled or returned to the external retailer under that retailer's policies and applicable law.
11. Accounts and information you provide
If you create an account, you must provide accurate information, keep it updated and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from something for which we are responsible.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. We may ask you to reset your password or take other reasonable security measures.
12. Acceptable use
You must not use the website:
- for any unlawful, fraudulent or malicious purpose;
- to infringe another person's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- to submit false, misleading, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, obscene or harmful material;
- to introduce malware or interfere with the website's security, performance or operation;
- to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
- to collect personal information about other users without a lawful basis; or
- to scrape, copy or extract website content at scale, or use automated systems in a way that places an unreasonable burden on the website, except where permitted by law or by our written consent.
13. Intellectual property
The website and its original text, graphics, branding, layouts, photographs, videos, destination guides, Kit Builder content and other materials are owned by or licensed to Outpacker and are protected by intellectual property laws.
You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not reproduce, republish, sell, commercially exploit or create derivative works from our content without our prior written permission, except where the law permits.
Third-party names, trademarks, product images and other materials remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on Outpacker does not transfer any ownership rights to us or to you.
14. Reviews and other content
If you submit a review, comment, photograph, suggestion or other content, you confirm that you have the right to submit it and that it is accurate, lawful and does not infringe another person's rights.
You retain ownership of your content. You give Outpacker a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, display and adapt it only as reasonably necessary to operate, improve and promote the website and our services. This licence ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except where continued retention is required by law or the content has already been used in materials that cannot reasonably be withdrawn.
We may moderate or remove content that breaches these Terms or applicable law. We are not required to publish or respond to submissions.
15. Third-party services and links
The website may contain embedded tools, maps, videos, reviews, payment services and links operated by third parties. Their own terms and privacy notices may apply.
We are not responsible for the availability or content of third-party websites that we do not control. This does not affect any responsibility we have for a direct purchase from Outpacker or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and retain personal information, including information processed through Shopify, the Kit Builder and affiliate links.
We ask for consent before using non-essential cookies where required. You can review or change your choices using the Cookie settings link in the website footer.
17. Website availability and changes
We aim to keep the website available and accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may maintain, update, suspend or change parts of the website where reasonably necessary.
We may correct errors or outdated information. Any change affecting an accepted direct order will be handled in accordance with the order contract and applicable law.
18. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.
If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it was obvious that it would happen or if both you and we knew it might happen when the relevant contract was formed.
We are not responsible for loss caused by information you supplied incorrectly, your failure to follow reasonable instructions, or an event outside our reasonable control, except where applicable law says otherwise.
If you use the website as a consumer, we do not exclude liability for damage to your property caused by defective digital content where we failed to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or business interruption, where you use the website wholly or mainly for personal purposes.
For an affiliate purchase, the external retailer is responsible for performing the sales contract. Outpacker remains responsible for its own acts and omissions to the extent required by law.
19. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the website at any time. We may suspend or restrict access where we reasonably believe this is necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance, prevention of fraud or misuse, or because you have materially breached these Terms.
Suspension or termination does not affect rights and obligations that arose before it occurred, including obligations relating to accepted direct orders.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you may bring legal proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, you may also have the benefit of mandatory consumer protections and local courts that apply in your country of residence.
Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve any concern informally.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to our services, business practices or legal obligations. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.
Changes will apply from the date they are published or from a later date stated in the notice. They will not retrospectively change an order contract that we have already accepted unless the change is required by law or you agree to it.
22. Contact us
Questions about these Terms should be emailed to team@outpacker.co.uk.
